Meet Betty Compagno

In August 2003, Betty Compagno met Kathy Roy who introduced her to Education for Living Seminars. Betty is a graduate from UNO with a B. S. in Business Education and she later earned her Master’s degree in Education, Math Certification, and Teacher Leader endorsement from ULL.

Betty is considered to be the “the Jane of all trades.” She has taught business as part of the Alternative Program curriculum in Lafayette Parish, was a homebound teacher for several years, and currently teaches math and REAL at Comeaux High School in Lafayette, Louisiana. Betty also has completed all Education for Living seminar courses and became a team leader and Learning Night facilitator. She is also trained as a certified Stuller Place Advocate.

In 2005, Betty was chosen as Teacher of the Year at N. P. Moss Annex and again in 2012 at Comeaux High School. She has been an LEF nominee numerous times for Teacher of the Year and was selected as a finalist in 2011.

She currently serves as REAL Advisor, Math Department Chair, National Honor Society Advisor, Honors Night Coordinator, and Graduation Committee member at Comeaux High School. Betty believes that her greatest contribution to students is her positive attitude and belief in each person’s ability to design his or her future.

Ms. Compagno began teaching REAL at Comeaux High School in 2008. The REAL curriculum has proven to be a great a success at Comeaux and Betty’s intention to help promote emotional intelligence and service to the school and community has come to fruition! Betty is also a facilitator of REALITY Check and always makes a positive impact on the lives of every student she teaches.
